The AccuReader Honda/Acura Ignition Roll-Pin Removal Kit is designed to remove the ignition roll pin without causing any damage to the ignition housing or the roll pin itself.
Once the ignition is reinstalled, simply slide the roll pin back into place.

🔧 Instructions — Step by Step

1. Identify the Ignition Type

Use the application chart to confirm whether the vehicle uses a Type 1 or Type 2 ignition housing.

2. For Type 2 Ignitions

Use the included pointed center punch to remove the factory headless bolts if needed.

3. Center the Roll Pin

Using the supplied awl/ice pick:

• Insert the tip into the end of the roll pin

• Gently move it side to side

• Make sure the roll pin is centered in the hole

4. Attach the Fixture

Using two of the three color-coded thumb screws, attach the fixture to the front of the ignition housing.
Use spacing washers if needed.

5. Prepare the Tubes

• Insert the short tube into the brass thumb screw and LIGHTLY tighten the set screw

• Slide the long tube through the short tube (the flared end must face the threaded side)

6. Position Over the Roll Pin

Insert the brass assembly into the threaded hole so the flared end sits directly on top of the roll pin.
Verify the flared end is properly seated by trying to move it slightly — it should not shift.

7. Pre-Load the Tool

• Turn the brass screw 1–2 full rotations

• Lightly tap the back of the tube to ensure it is fully seated

8. Extract the Roll Pin

Turn the brass screw until it comes to a definite stop.
⚠️ Do NOT overtighten.

9. Lock It In Place

Tighten the set screw one full rotation only.

10. Release

Loosen the black 1/4-20 Tee thumb screw.

11. Remove the Roll Pin

Unscrew the brass assembly — the roll pin will come out attached to it.

12. For Type 1 Ignitions

Use the ice pick to gently lift the steering-lock tail piece during cylinder removal.

💡 Helpful Tips

Tip 1 — Free the Roll Pin Before Installing the Fixture

After centering with the ice pick, lightly tap the ignition cylinder (not the housing) in the direction of the roll pin to push it out as far as possible.

Tip 2 — Improve the Grip on the Roll Pin

Because the roll pin is tapered:

• Place the ice pick in the center

• Tap LIGHTLY to slightly flare the pin

• Repeat Tip #1 afterward to push it outward further

This gives the tool a better “bite” on the roll pin for easier extraction.

Tip 1 — Free the Roll Pin Before Installing the Fixture

After using the ice pick, and before mounting the fixture, lightly tap the ignition cylinder itself (NOT the housing) with a hammer in the direction of the roll pin.
This helps push the roll pin outward as far as possible.

Tip 2 — Flare the Roll Pin for Better Grip

Because the roll pin is tapered on both ends, you can place the ice pick in the center of the roll pin and tap very lightly to slightly flare it outward.
This creates more “bite” for the extractor tool.
After flaring, repeat Tip 1 to push the roll pin outward again.
